We Are Lao Managing Director John Morris Williams greeted BikingMan CEO Axel Carion at ITB Berlin, where they discussed the upcoming world championship BikingMan Laos round for unassisted ultracycling on 20-24 May.
Also on hand for the meeting were Director General of the Lao government’s Tourism Development Department Sounh Manivong and Luang Prabang Travel Agents Association Vice President Kongchakky Phanthasombath.
We Are Lao is the official Media Partner for the BikingMan Laos race, when the world’s top ultracyclers will compete over a 780-km circuit in mountainous northern Laos.
The race kicks off at Luang Prabang and heads north and then west into Oudomxay, before pedaling south to Checkpoint 1 at the Sanctuary Lodge at Pakbeng. The circuit continues east across Sayabouly and on to the treacherous Kasi Climb and Checkpoint 2. The final run returns to Luang Prabang.
BikingMan just wrapped up the Oman round at the end of February, with unstoppable Peruvian Rodney Suncco again taking top honours. He finished the 1,050-km race in 38h17m, more than 2 hours ahead of second place Jason Black from Ireland.
