Lao Airlines is introducing a scheduled flight that will wing in Chinese tourists from Changsha to this World Heritage town.
Due to start 31 October, the weekly flight is scheduled every Wednesday, but is not bookable on the airline’s website.
The service will use an A320-210 aircraft configured with 158 seats for the winter season 31 October to 31 March 2019.
The new flight will depart Luang Prabang at 1150 and arrive in Changsha at 1500 with the return flight departing at 1600 and arriving in Luang Prabang at 1710.
While Changsha appears as a destination option on the airline’s website booking panel, flight dates and fares fail to show up when a request is made.
It is understood the seat inventory will be pre-sold to Chinese tour operators offering tours of Laos using Luang Prabang as the gateway.
From Luang Prabang the airline also offers a twice-weekly service to Jinghong, a popular tourist destination in China’s Yunnan province and part of the Mekong region.
Lao Airlines serves three destinations in China. It offers daily flights to Jinghong and Kunming from Vientiane and a three weekly service to Guangzhou, also from the Lao capital.
