Tucked away up the Nam Ou river is a small town called Muang Ngoi. It’s a place to come if you want to detach a little from the outside world, sit in a hammock and read a good book. The town has a good number of restaurants, a lovely temple and a waterfall about 11km out. The best way to reach the village is by local boat which takes about 40 minutes otherwise there is a dirt road but be prepared for mud/dust and river crossings. This has and always will be one of our favourite places to come to in Laos for winding down.
