With a large number of the population employed as farmers, Laos is the perfect place to experience rice cultivation. We enable this on a tour close to the country’s leading tourism attraction, the heritage city of Luang Prabang.

The half-day trip introduces participants to the 14 steps of rice production, including planting, ploughing, harvesting and thrashing, with these processes dependent on the season. This ‘grain to plate’ activity is undertaken in an idyllic countryside setting close to the Mekong River. The group sizes are kept small to maximise the hands-on experience and interaction with local farmers.
This educational excursion reveals why rice is the most cultivated source of income in Laos.
