Day1. Arrival – Luang Prabang
On arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After you have had time to rest and freshen up we will head off to see some of the highlights of Luang Prabang including a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts from the Royal period in Luang Prabang. Cycling on we are seeing the city’s oldest temples, the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roof sweeping low to the ground, representing classical Lao architecture, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham.
From there we will climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred gilded stupa and to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the sun setting over the Mekong River.
Decenting the mountain your will find yourself in the midst of the famous Luang Prabang Night Market, where you can find a unique selection of handmade textiles and handicrafts locally made by both ethnic Lao and hilltribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Day2. Luang Prabang – Oudomxay – Nam Kat Yorlapa (Train)
This morning you have the option and opportunity to rise early and participate in the daily morning ritual of Alms Giving, you will experience saffron-clad monks collecting offerings or ‘Alms’ from faithful local residents. This tradition is unique to Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the daily procession.
Return to your hotel and transfer to high-speed train for short distance to the north where the home to the ethnic minority groups. On the way, you will enjoy spectacular view of mountain range and green forest from the both side of the railway. Upon arriving, you will be met and transfer you to the deep jungle resort of Nam Kat.
We start a day tour by Green bus to information center and introduce by camp manager before Cycling from information Centre 5 km – Trekking 900 m through the forest and through Kua Ou Bridge to Namkat waterfall. Zip-Lining (18 lines) through Namkat waterfall and the rainforest along the Namkat river. Overnight at Overnight in Nam Kat Resort. (B)
Day3. Nam Kat Yorlapa – Pakbeng
We leave the resort after breakfast and drive towards Pakbeng via Oudomxay, the most mountainous area in Laos. The road conditions are good. Oudomxay province is residence to a mixture of 23 ethnic minority groups. We make a few rest stops along the way, which gives you the opportunity to see the ethnic minority groups of Hmong, Khmu, Black Thai and Lu; Hmong hill tribe people. The hill tribe people are unfailingly friendly; welcoming you with waving hands and smiling faces. Along the way; we drop off to visit some more Khmu, Tai Dam (Black Thai), and Hmong villages and pottery, handicraft villages at Ban Nyor, arrival at Pakbeng by sunset and browse the daily evening hill tribe market before checking in to your hotel. Day4. Pakbeng – Trekking (B)
Breakfast, we head for day activities, your guide will take you to villages by 17 Km north of Pakbeng town to visit the Khmu villages on a red-soil road, passing small forests, rice fields, some spectacular scenery and a rustic village with wooden bamboo houses. Stop along the way for photo ops of the local children and hard-working farmers in the field. On arrival at the home of a Khmu family at Ban kham village, take part in daily life, including some step of peeling rice by hand During your time in the village, your guide will introduce you to some traditional customs of the Khmu people and how difference between three biggest ethnic groups in Laos, back to town for lunch and afternoon, we visit temple at Wat Cheng and Wat Kokkor and local market observing the variety of local foodstuffs and products including dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, fish, vegetables and fruit. Day5. Pakbeng – Luang Prabang (B, L) (Cruise)
Breakfast, we board traditional local boat on the mighty Mekong River downstream to Luang Prabang. A relaxation day ahead on board cruise your journey reversing back to UNESCO heritage down. You pass areas of un-spoilt forest with little villages along the riverbanks and perhaps the odd elephant or two with his mahout. You will visit a Hmong village and have the opportunity to explore the village. Lunch is served on deck as we enjoy the slow paced cruise. We will pull over for a visit to Pak-Ou Caves, an ancient pilgrimage site and containing thousands of gold lacquered Buddha images left there over hundreds of years. Arriving in Luang Prabang around sunset we will transfer to your hotel. Your evening is free to explore the town or relax at your hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day6. Luang Prabang – Departure
Depending on your flight time this morning we will visit to the Arts & Ethnology Centre and take a stroll through the Morning Market before transfer to the airport for departure.
