When it comes to Lao caves, Vang Vieng is king, with more than 15 distinct caves, and Vientiane Province is adding Tham Nang Oua to the list.
While the new site, about 10 km from town, is only 90% complete, tourists are already trickling in, Vang Vieng tourism official, Khotami Syborliban told Vientiane Times. The access road makes the approach easy, though it gets a bit muddy in Green Season.
A stream at the entrance has small huts on its bank, and a restaurant serving local dishes. Gardens with animal models present the backdrop.
Tham Nang Oua Cave sits close to the Blue Lagoon, Chang and Phoukham Caves, and Kaeng Nyui Waterfall, with zip-lining and kayaking. Other new attractions in the area include Nam Cave and Pha Ngern cliff.
