Our hopes for elephant conservation in Laos increase with the birth of a new boy on Xmas Day!
There are so many things that make this a feel-good story. As you may know, the Elephant Conservation Center of Laos has not had too much luck with the previous pregnancies. The last two were carried to full term, but because of complications, the calves did not make it. This is not abnormal, but it certainly is a blow to the would-be mother and our community.
Even so, we never gave up and kept believing in our way of working, despite the extremely challenging times we have gone through this year with the COVID-19 pandemic. So, you can understand how happy we were when after only 30 minutes, we could meet our new, healthy bull on Xmas day!
