The province ordered the end of ticket sales as of 23 January, and placed Khong District in charge of managing the two sites. Ying Soksay has also closed the doors to its Salaxsomview restaurant at Khone Phapheng, the Vientiane Times reported.

A Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism official in Champasak said Khone Phapheng had been charging Lao nationals 5,000 kip to enter, and 20,000 kip to drive in a vehicle and toilet use. Foreigners were charged 35,000 kip per person and 55,000 kip for bringing in a vehicle and toilet use.

Ticket prices at Li Phi (Som Pha Mit) Waterfall Park stood at 5,000 kip for a Lao national and 35,000 kip for foreigners.

The reason for the suspension of entry fees was not made available, the report said.
