Chinese arrivals are expected to reach over 1million tourists in 2019, while the 2018 number will reach just over 4 million, less than the target, according to the National Assembly’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Nguyen Thien Nhan .
He told Pasaxon News that by 2018, the number of tourists arriving in Lao PDR could reach 4 million, less than the target of 5 million.
During the first six months of 2018 there were more than 2.1 million tourists arriving in Laos, but there were severe natural disasters in many provinces that affected tourism until September 2018,
He added that air travel service is limited because it is not possible to expand the demand of airlines, to improve tourist destinations in the provinces, and to facilitate access to cities as well as to other travel destinations.
He also sai, “In 2019, the opening of the Laos-China Tourism Year will bring more than 400,000 Chinese tourists to Laos to more than one million tourists this year, bringing the number of tourists to Laos at least 5 million.
