Summit Tours lifts off into Luang Prabang’s Skies
Summit Tours took to the skies over Luang Prabang on Thursday 5 April, 2018, to launch their new luxury helicopter experiences, “Laos from the Sky”. Four managers from upscale Luang Prabang hotels lifted off in a Lao Skyway five-seat Airbus AS 350 chopper for the maiden “Laos from the Sky” flight above the UNESCO World Heritage city. “Three flight routes were pre-arranged for this inaugural trip over Luang Prabang town and Province,” said Jan Wollen, Summit Tours Sales and Marketing Manager. The flight floated over several top attractions during the flight, for an aerial view of Kuang Si Waterfall, Ting Cave on the Mekong River, Mount Phousi, Luang Prabang town, and the Luang Prabang Golf Course. “We flew them over the Mekong River and returned to town, where they hovered over their hotels to give each a bird’s eye view of their property from above, said Ms Wollen. “This unusual sight of a helicopter for tours over Luang Prabang town caused quite a stir from below, and many tourists and guests at the hotels were enquiring where the helicopter was from,” she added. “This is the future of “Laos from the Sky” Summit Tours, Ms Wollen pointed out. “We are getting ready to launch luxury tour programs throughout Laos, including helicopter tours, soon.” Ms Wollen said Summit Tours was very pleased with the reception they received for helicopter tours. “We believe these helicopter tours will significantly add to the tourism appeal, not only for Luang Prabang, but for the whole of the country, by enhancing Lao tourism, a hidden gem people are now beginning to find.” Summit Tours has an exclusive partnership with Lao Skyway, and plans to base a helicopter at their new terminal in Luang Prabang as well as Vientiane. Summit Tours is also eyeing bases in Thakaek and Pakse for helicopter tours. Summit Tours’ “Laos from the Sky”, aims to provide exceptional experiences for discriminating travelers, who want to explore secluded areas of Laos, including inaccessible jungles with hidden waterfalls. Tours take in temples and cultural sites, and customized ventures and short city tours are in the pipeline, as are unusually themed tours in Buddhism and Lao culture. Boarding the inaugural Luang Prabang flight were Donald Wong (Amantaka), Phonexay Keuthbounmany (Belmond La Residence Phou Vao), Puthapong Purushahansa (Sofitel Luang Prabang), and Elias Pertoft (Rosewood Luang Prabang). www.summittours.la Jan Wollen: jan@summittours.la (English) Khek Poole: khek@summittours.la (Lao and English)
