    TAEC Releases 2019-2020 Brochure

      The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) has release its 2019-2020 brochure, “Highlighting the People & Culture of Laos. Inside, you’ll discover Tours and Workshops, the Family Activity Centre, Talks & Events, and the Museum Shop and TAEC Boutique. You’ll also find their “Connect with Culture” exhibitions, and more.     The TAEC Boutique Makes a Big Move

      The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) has relocated and redesigned its craft museum in Luang Prabang. The TAEC Boutique now presents a vibrant marketplace concept by Modlao that reflects the diversity and creativity of Lao textiles, accessories, and homewares, all handmade by ethnic artisans in Laos. Its new location on the Main Road in Ban Vat Sene sits across from the Luang Prabang Primary School, and yellow doors make the TAEC Boutique easy to find. It’s just a short walk from the old hilltop home. Open daily from 09:00 until 21:00, the TAEC Boutique invites visitors to come and browse their fair trade products, learn about traditional craft techniques, and celebrate the artisans who make them.   TAEC’s knowledgeable handicrafts team is ready to help visitors find that perfect gift or souvenir from Laos.     Bio Bamboo Launches New Products

      Luang Prabang Bio Bamboo has launched a creative new line of home and tourist products with the overall aim of reducing plastic waste while allowing patrons to discover organic, eco-friendly goods. Run by Singthong, his wife Nud, and family, Bio Bamboo is located just 10 minutes from the World Heritage Town on the airport road, and also offers a bamboo exhibit house, eco-bar and restaurant. “We are huge fans of making the best and most creative products that result in zero waste, plastic-free, and eco-friendly living,” said Singthong. Bio Bamboo started life making bamboo straws, but is now pushing the window for creating other eco-friendly products. The new lineup includes bamboo refill bottles, hemp string, coconut bowls, bamboo tumblers, gourd lamps, coconut bowls, and bamboo baskets. “Using natural products provides a precious connection to the environment,” Singthong said. “Try them…you’ll love it.” Visit Luang Prabang Bio Bamboo’s Facebook page.
