    Laos Rakes in ASEAN Standards Awards at Annual Forum

      More than a dozen Lao attractions and tourism business took home ASEAN Standards Awards from the ASEAN Together Forum 2020 held in Brunei from 12-16January. Vat Phou Temple in Champassak Province and Vat Xiengthong Temple in Luang Prabang landed Sustainable Tourism Standard Awards, while Vientiane received an award in the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard category. Five Lao properties nailed down ASEAN Green Hotel Standard Awards, including the Pullman Luang Prabang, Inthira Vang Vieng, Namkat Yorla Pa Resort in Oudomxay, Pou Villa Resort in Luang Namtha, and the Paksong Danngarm Hotel in Champassak. The Pullman Luang Prabang also grabbed an ASEAN MICE Venue Standard Award, as did the Crowne Plaza Vientiane, the National Convention Centre, Champassak Grand Hotel, and the Cultural Hall in Savannakhet Province.     Victoria Xiengthong Becomes First Plastic-Free Hotel in Luang Prabang

      Victoria Xiengthong Palace has implemented the first Plastic- Free Program in a Luang Prabang hotel. “It is a pleasure to transform our hotel into the first environment-friendly hotel that says ‘No’ to plastic in the city,” the hotel reported. “With the humble launching of this special landmark under the acknowledgement of local government, managers of Luang Prabang travel agencies and others, Victoria Xiengthong will continue to coordinate with other hotels and resorts in Luang Prabang to influence plastic-free activities to both tourists and local community to promote sustainable tourism development in Laos.” To Visit Victoria Xiengthong Palace, click here.

    LPQ Deaf&Mute Community Launch Handicraft Line

      The Luang Prabang Deaf&Mute Community’s Special Education Handicraft School has produced a catalogue featuring products now available their shop. Visitors can choose bamboo straws, pillows, laptop and shoulder bags, aprons, scarves, table cloths, and purses. The School for the Deaf and Mute in Luang Prabang holds 85 students from various communities in Laos, and is supported by various organizations and charities to teach the children sign language and community learning skills, so they can integrate into the society as part of the labor force. Students learn weaving, bamboo and basket making, agricultural , wood working and mechanical skills for the boys, and you can see the products they have created and are now selling at their shop and cafe in Luang Prabang.
