Clothing Swap with Green Step, EARTH Vientiane and the LDWDC

By Green Discover Laos, Alba Ramos Those who are in the capital of Laos and are keen to do their part in sustainability can keep a lookout for various events with a sustainable focus that will be taking place in Vientiane.  The first charity clothing swap event in Vientiane, organised by the nature-focused events brand Green Step and EARTH Vientiane to support the Lao Disabled Women Development Center, is taking place this Saturday, 29th of February at EARTH Bar. Everyone can bring the clothes that they are no longer using to EARTH Bar, and exchange them with clothes that they would actually wear, that are brought by others. As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Instead of buying more clothes and piling up the number of clothes in one’s wardrobe, or throwing away clothes that one does not wear, why not exchange them with someone else who will make full use of them? This is a good way to get rid of unwanted clothes, save money since this reduces the need to purchase new clothes, and most importantly, it is an act of environmentalism!    But not everything will be changing clothes. DJ MACE, from UK, will be spinning some funky tunes, and EARTH usual selection of excellent beers and great food will be available. The talented women from the Lao Disabled Women development center will also be on-hand selling their beautiful recycled handicrafts. Leftover clothing will be donated to the @Laodisabledwomen and @GDLsustainabilityfund eco bag project, creating beautiful reusable shopping bags with recycled clothes. A 100% of the profits from the bag’s sales goes to the LDWDC and Green Discovery Sustainability Fund’s sustainable and social projects.   These events create a great opportunity for those living or passing by Vientiane to meet like-minded people, have fun and start including sustainable habits in their daily lives. Old clothes, new friends!
