Gaspard Artisan Cuisine opened its doors in Luang Prabang late last year to present a menu featuring traditional French signature dishes with an “a la Française” service set in a UNESCO-classified two-storey Tai Lue-style teak house at the crossroads of the landmark Nam Phou Fountain and Mekong River.
Gaspard is the brainchild of two friends and partners, who forged a close working relationship four years ago with the opening of the now popular Manda de Laos, its sister restaurant, in Luang Prabang that features Laotian family cuisine.
Gaspard is rooted in a shared passion for home-cooked, artisan meals, with verdant gardens and good living in a French atmosphere in the middle of Luang Prabang.
The Chef, originally from France, takes pride in offering a menu that celebrates artisan values – the quality, flavours and spirit of French cuisine – using seasonal ingredients handpicked at the local market.
The well-trained bartenders craft French vintage cocktails that delight all taste buds. Gaspard also showcases an impressive selection of spirits, brandy as well as a carefully selected choice of wines.
Gaspard’s unique design reflects a collaboration between craftsmen from Luang Prabang and a famed Brittany-based interior designer.
The restaurant’s ground floor features a stylish bar overlooking the dining area. The salon’s baroque aesthetics remind diners of exotic travels and chance encounters.
The secret garden terrace is the perfect place for an atmospheric rendezvous under a canopy of tropical flowers and starry skies.
Upstairs, traditional teakwood patina and soaring ceilings merge with Luang Prabang’s sublime natural beauty and gracious, down-to-earth spirit that give a warm feeling to the space. Gaspard definitely has a je ne sais quoi.
Gaspard Artisan Cuisine is open from noon until 23:00, and serves lunch, coffee and tea, and dinner with desserts and full bar.
