After 20 years of waiting in line, the Plain of Jars will be officially inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site this year, according the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office.

The 7 June 2019 article stated that Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism confirmed on 14 May, that “Thong Hai Hin” (Plain of Jars) would be officially accepted for the UNESCO listing during an upcoming UNESCO meeting in Azerbaijan . A meeting is scheduled for 10 July.
