Getting around Luang Namtha

Hop on a local vehicle or rent 2 wheels to explore Nature’s Playground.

Tuk tuks are available in Luang Namtha and Sing Towns to explore the various attractions. You can also rent bicycles and motorbikes for sightseeing around these towns and to reach other districts. Several tour operators offer a choice of cycling itineraries throughout the province. You can find sawng taews (Pickup trucks with benches) for inter-district travel at bus stations, and they generally leave when full in the morning.

Busses travel between Luang Namtha Town and the province’s district seats. Muang Sing busses (LAK 25,000) shuttle back and forth several times throughout the day for the 2-hour drive, and further to Long Town (LAK45,000) with one bus around noon. A bus departs Luang Namtha Town at about 09:00 for the 90-minute drive to Vieng Phoukha (LAK25,000) and to Nalae (LAK45,000) for the 3-hour trip. Busses also depart four times throughout the morning for Boten (LAK 25,000) at the Chinese border.
